Internships: a first immersion into the professional world
At French International School Kyoto, internships offer our students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on insight into careers they are passionate about. Yumi and Hugo completed a four-day internship at the offices of the video game studio Skeleton Crew, working on the independent game Forestrike, a project to which one of our teachers is also contributing.
During this immersive experience, Yumi used the pixel art software Aseprite to experiment with different designs and create an original series of hats for the game’s characters. Hugo, for his part, worked with the UNITY game engine to implement Yumi’s hat designs onto the characters.
This enriching experience, combining creativity, rigor, and teamwork, allowed them to interact with all members of the development team and to understand how an artistic direction is built, from the initial idea to the final visual universe.
The icing on the cake: their work is now part of the finished game, which is being released this month. Watch the official trailer.
These hands-on experiences are essential in helping students build their future plans. They are part of our guidance support pathway, which helps each student discover their talents and explore the careers of tomorrow. The Guidance Meetings will resume in November and December, offering further opportunities to discuss educational pathways and professions with guest speakers who come to share their experience and passion.
