Excellence and the Art of Hospitality: A Meeting with Gilles Perrin
To begin this new week, the program led by Ms. Doco opened a third window onto the professional world, this time stepping into the realm of prestige and luxury hospitality. On Monday, December 15, students of the Lycée Français International de Kyoto welcomed Mr. Gilles Perrin, Director of Food & Beverage at The Ritz-Carlton.
As head of a strategic department within one of Kyoto’s most prestigious establishments, he offered high school students a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at his profession. Far removed from clichés, he described a role where logistical rigor goes hand in hand with diplomacy, and where financial management is just as crucial as service quality. He emphasized the human dimension of his daily work: managing large, multicultural teams and ensuring a flawless guest experience.
Mr. Perrin also highlighted that luxury hospitality is an exceptional gateway to international careers. His testimony demonstrated that these professions offer rapid opportunities for advancement to those who show commitment and passion.
