Mission on the International Space Station !

On Wednesday, April 20, the students of the LFIK will have the chance to discover the backstage of the International Space Station (ISS) thanks to a unique meeting with the Japanese Astronaut of the JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Angency) Mr. Takuya Onishi who spent 113 days aboard the ISS during Expeditions 48 and 49 of 2016.

The students of the CE2 class started to work on the theme of Space during the Alpha Mission of 2021 which brought together in the ISS the French Astronaut Thomas Pesquet and Akihiko Hoshide, one of the Japanese Astronauts of the JAXA. Our students understood that curiosity was anything but a bad habit and numerous questions were raised: how do rockets propel themselves into space? What is the purpose of the ISS? How do Astronauts live there?
To enlighten them, what better way than to ask their questions directly to someone who would have the experience of a mission in Space… A real Astronaut? The first seed of a crazy project was sown!

After applying to JAXA, LFIK is honored to have been selected to organize a unique conference with Astronaut and Flight Director Mr. Takuya Onishi at the Kyoto City Community House (Kokoka), which will bring together LFIK elementary and middle school students, as well as students from the Japanese elementary schools Kinrin and Daisan Kinrin. Get ready for take-off!
